The breakthrough moment

I wonder if, in the cold dark of the night before,

these Coprinellus disseminatus

had any idea of what life would look like

after their breakthrough moment.

I’m guessing not.

Life’s like that.

Does the caterpillar aspire to flight,

or the tadpole envisage legs?
